The Indiana Africa University Campaign efforts to raise $1.6 million for an endowed chair in Agriculture and Natural Resources and endowed student scholarships at United Methodist-related Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe, is now in its local church commitment phase. Each local church has been invited to make a church pledge to the campaign to be completed by December of 2016.

To date more than $828,378 has been pledged providing a steady stream of funds. These funds are being invested by the Africa University Development Office located in Nashville, Tenn. Because of the financial instability of Zimbabwe, investments are made here in the United States for financial stability.

Each local church desiring to make a commitment to the Indiana Africa University Campaign will submit that pledge during charge conferences in each of the Indiana Conference’s ten districts. Local church pledge cards are available online with a host of informational material about the campaign on the Indiana Conference website at inumc.org/au. Donations to the campaign can also be made online at the same web address.

To help local churches interpret The United Methodist Church’s ministry at Africa University, the AU Campaign is offering guest speakers who will come to local churches and give a presentation about Africa University and the AU Campaign. To schedule a speaker, contact Ruth Ellen Stone at ruthellen1@juno.com or by phone at 317-839-8837.
