INDIANAPOLIS – The Rev. Jim Byerly, Indiana Conference Disaster Response Coordinator, has just been asked by the Detroit United Methodist Conference Disaster Response Team for immediate help from certified Early Response Teams to come to the Detroit area for “mucking out” – cleaning out houses that were damaged by the recent floods which affected hundreds of homes in Detroit. Byerly reports that he has one group that hopes to deploy this coming Sunday, Aug. 24, and return Thursday, Aug. 28. If you are an UMCOR certified ERT responder and would like to form a team to go to Detroit, contact Byerly at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 812-756-1195 at your earliest convenience. Byerly also is teaching an ERT200 Team Leader class this Friday, Aug. 22, at St. Luke’s UMC, 100 W. 86th Street in Indianapolis and can add people to that training. This class is a re-certification class as well as an advanced Early Response Team leader training. Click here to register.
