The U.S. Surgeon General concluded in 2006 that "nonsmokers who are exposed to secondhand smoke at home or at work increase their risk of developing heart disease by 25 to 30 percent." Grant for Lilly Endowment to help University of Evansville fight brain drain

Efforts by the UM-related University of Evansville to reverse the "brain drain" in Southwestern Indiana received a large boost recently, thanks to a generous grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. The Endowment has approved a $375,000 extension to UE's Initiative to Promote Opportunity through Educational Collaborations. Indiana Conference receives $3.9 million Lilly Endowment Grant to provide financial assistance, planning for pastors

Martinsville First UMC reopened

The First United Methodist Church Martinsville held a Grand Opening in November in an entirely new facility at the intersection of State Road 37 and Old Highway 37 just north of the Martinsville Country Club.
