INDIANAPOLIS – Bonnie Albert of Chesterton in the North District recently retired as the Indiana Conference United Methodist Volunteer in Mission coordinator. Albert served in this position and as the UMVIM coordinator for the former North Indiana Conference for the past eight years.
To honor her, Lorna Jost, North Central Jurisdiction UMVIM coordinator, gave this tribute to Albert in a recent online newsletter.
She wrote: “Bonnie Albert has been the UMVIM Coordinator for the Indiana Conference for the past several years. Her knowledge of UMC missions, UMW missions and her just plain good sense have allowed the merged Indiana Conference to be one of the leaders in UMVIM teams. Bonnie, as a member of the UMVIM-NCJ Board, spearheaded the effort to get an across-the-jurisdiction team leader training menu set for all conferences. She found and helped train at least four persons in the Indiana Conference to carry out the Team Leadership training and has held many trainings herself!
“She has worked tirelessly, on her own dime and her own time, and led countless teams to many places on this globe! Bonnie’s term is up as Indiana UMVIM coordinator, but her involvement in missions will go on indefinitely! Because that is who she is. I hope all of you in the Indiana Conference will let Bonnie know what her leadership has meant to you! Thank You Bonnie.”
Following Albert in this position will be Beth Stickles McDaniel of Carmel, a leader in the United Methodist Women of Indiana and assistant dean of the 2012 School of Christian Mission.
The Rev. LeKisha Reed, conference associate director of Mission and Advocacy, announced the appointment of McDaniel as the next Indiana Conference United Methodist Volunteer in Mission Coordinator during the July 13 meeting of the Indiana Conference Disaster Response Team.
McDaniel was a volunteer in Henryville earlier this spring at the Volunteer ROC center at Country Lake Christian Retreat Center. She also has served as a member of the Indiana Conference Communication Team. Her new duties begin Aug. 1. Her e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org or call 317-705-1870.
