Missional Church

The Indiana Conference has a goal of every church being missional by 2020.

What exactly is a missional church? The resources below explain and help churches explore what it means to be missional.

According to the book, Shaped by God's Heart, which all Indiana United Methodist church leaders are being encouraged to study, a "missional church... [is] a reproducing community of authentic disciples, being equipped as missionaries sent by God, to live and proclaim His Kingdom in their world." (Minatrea, M. (2010). Shaped By God's Heart: The Passion and Practices of Missional Churches, Jossey-Bass Leadership Network Series

Created by Church Development and Discipleship Development, the presentation, handouts, and workshop leader guide below will allow you to walk through the basics of becoming a missional church. As a companion to the book, this workshop (designed for a 60-90 minute format) will help churches MAP out plans to be missional. Simply download the files and share them with your church's leaders and members to begin the conversation about becoming more missional.
