High St. UMC, Muncie - Organist/Accompanist

High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie, Indiana, seeks an organist to begin as soon as November 26, 2017. The church holds music in high regard and provides a supportive creative environment for musicians. The large organ (4 manuals, 70 ranks) was built by E.M. Skinner in 1930 and renovated by Reynolds & Associates 2009-2015. This part-time position includes two services Sunday mornings and a rehearsal Wednesday evenings with adult choir led by the Director of Music. The salary includes five holiday services throughout the year; weddings and funerals receive additional pay. Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of Operation Classroom, Inc. (a 501c3) (part-time position)

Operation Classroom is a United Methodist-affiliated mission focusing on secondary education in Sierra Leone and Liberia, English-speaking countries in West Africa.  In its 30 years, Operation Classroom has helped to build and equip schools and to provide scholarships for secondary students in these countries.

We are engaged in a capital campaign to raise $1.1 million dollars for the Taiama Enterprise Academy (the TEA), to be established in Taiama, Sierra Leone in partnership with the Sierra Leone United Methodist Conference.  The fundraising campaign is underway, and it is anticipated the first students will attend the TEA in September 2018.  The TEA is a pilot project of the African Enterprise Academies, which are proposed to be established throughout Sierra Leone and Liberia

We are looking for a culturally-competent person with a heart for mission, a passion for positive change in West Africa, good communication skills, the ability to raise funds for the ministry, great financial skills, and the ability to create and implement strategies to fulfill the mission/vision of the Board of Directors.

Galveston UMC - Director of Student and Worship Ministries

Galveston UMC is seeking a part-time combined Director (28 hours/wk) of student and worship ministries. We are looking for someone to lead our youth ministries program. The ideal candidate is someone who would plan youth events along with developing and implementing a weekly youth group. The candidate should have knowledge and experience with current youth curriculum, issues, and discipleship in the Wesleyan tradition.

We are also looking for someone to lead the congregation in passionate worship. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has the ability to organize the music for Sunday mornings, lead the praise team, and work with the technology team. Ability to play a variety of instruments is a plus.  The candidate for this position would help prepare the hearts congregation to receive God’s word through that Sunday’s message and inspire a deeper devotion to God through music.  The director will work collaboratively with the senior pastor and church staff.

Frankfort St. Matthew UMC - Youth Director (full time)
  1. Time commitment is expected to be 30 hours per week.
  2. Develop a plan to reach out to known youth and attract new members.
  3. Maintain a roster of youth with contact information and plans for follow up contact, including ongoing contact with parents.
  4. Work with the Director of Children’s Ministries in planning weekly junior/senior high Sunday School, including the recruitment and training of teachers or assuming some teaching responsibilities.
  5. If requested, assist with Confirmation only under the direction of ordained clergy.
  6. Develop and lead the Sunday evening youth group program, including the development of a semester calendar for youth/parents to inform them of activities.
  7. Plan and oversee details of special events, activities which may require recruitment of helpers/chaperones, organizing transportation, etc.
  8. Manage/monitor financial resources of the youth group including budgeting, fund raising, collecting money for events, camp scholarship funding, etc.
  9. Prepare for Junior/Senior High Church Camp which may include:
  • Making early contact with appropriate entities, including securing adequate housing.
  • Advertising and recruiting youth to attend (tracking registration, collecting funds, etc.).
  • Recruiting adult supervisors, counselors, cooks.
  • Organizing transportation.
  • Planning activities, including counselors in that process, and being involved as a discussion leader, leading nightly prayer/share time.

    10. Show support by attending school related or outside activities involving our youth.

    11. Further develop a Youth Council and meet regularly, using them as a resource/assistants for youth activities as    mentioned in previous responsibilities.

Work with senior pastor and Staff Parish committee to aid in fulfilling other needs.
