Church provides “Worship for the Soul” to dementia residents
Forest Park United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne started a new worship service called "Worship for the Soul." This service is held on the 4th Wednesday of each month partnering with Heritage Park Nursing Home and their dementia residents. The residents are brought to the church and participate in a service of familiar hymns, readings such as Psalm 23, the Lord's Prayer and a short message by the pastor. The service is followed by cookies and juice and a time of fellowship with members of the church family. This is one way we have found to reach out to those people who are often forgotten in our community.
