Tailgate party shared with community
Edinburgh United Methodist Church committed to reaching out to the community, as well as inviting in. The church hosted a tailgate party, where over 140 hot dogs and cans of soda were given away. Many members of the community enjoyed this gesture, and school officials stopped by to thank the church members for their support of the community. That evening local teens were invited to the church for a 5th Quarter. Youth were invited for an open gym as well as dancing and music in a safe environment. Youth leaders were pleasantly surprised that 78 teens attended, which is about a sixth of the entire student body in the community. Inspired by the success of these events, the congregation is looking forward to other ways that they can be more involved in blessing, loving and serving the town of Edinburgh.
