Kids Against Hunger food packet reach Guatemala
Approximately 25,000 meals were packed and designated for Mission Guatemala by 160 volunteers Saturday, May 31, after the annual conference session.
Those meals arrived at Mission Guatemala's site in San Andrés Semetabaj Wednesday Aug. 27, along with other boxes of Kids Against Hunger food packed by other churches and organizations. Mission Guatemala is a United Methodist related organization based out of Indiana.
Mission Guatemala operates two feeding programs that serve over 45,000 meals a year. They also act as a food bank providing food for other agencies.
According to the World Food Programme, Guatemala is ranked 4th in world for chronic child malnutrition and the highest in Latin America. Nearly 50 percent of children age 5 and under suffer from chronic child malnutrition. Read more from the World Food Programme here.
