Bicknell United Methodists share VBS, celebrate event Sunday in a local park

BICKNELL, Ind. – The Bicknell and Asbury Chapel United Methodist churches, both located at Bicknell in the Southwest District, came together this past week with a unified Weird Animals Vacation Bible School which included 54 children. A crew of more than 30 volunteers from the two congregations made the five-day evening school possible. To conclude the week, the congregations joined together Sunday, Aug. 3 for worship in a local park. The Southern Gospel group, Circle of Friends, provided music, along with the children from VBS doing a short program. After worship a bounteous picnic lunch was shared by all. More than 130 people joined in this worship, including 18 who were children from VBS and their families who have not had a regular church family. – Submitted by Pastor Steve Rundel of the Bicknell UMC
