Elkhart church creates new membership course for those with disabilities

ELKHART, Ind. – The New Hope United Methodist Church Disability Group (Bridges) has been working for the past year on a membership course designed especially for people with disabilities about what it means to belong to God and New Hope UMC. We had nine individuals complete the course and join New Hope by confessions of faith during one of our recent Sunday morning services. It was a very emotional moment for our congregation and the families of the new members with disabilities as they took their vows of membership with great enthusiasm. Our congregation signed a garland as a visual of how they are now connected to the body of Christ. New Hope offers a worship service designed for those with physical and mental disabilities. This group meets once a month on the fourth Tuesday. For more information, visitwww.newhopeumc.com.
