Middletown UMC meets goal to restock community food pantry

Middletown United Methodist Church in the East District has an Awana program that meets on Monday nights from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Middletown church has adopted the motto: “What are we going to do about it?” based on Jesus’ desire to feed more than 5,000 people before they left him. The Awana Commander Dianne Kokena led members on a Trick-Hunger Treat-the-Hungry mission to stock the local food community pantry this month. Middletown UMC’s goal was to donate a thousand items in October. They invited other churches in town to take up the challenge with them. Their church alone raised its goal of a thousand items. The food pantry cares for more than 100 families, so members of Middletown UMC are proud of their Awana club and their congregation for reaching their goal. Our kids in the program range in age from 2 to 12 years of age. – Glen Davis, pastor of Middletown UMC
