Indiana Extension Course of Study - Fall 2017
The Indiana Extension Course of Study School is an extension of the Garrett-Evangelical School of Theology Course of Study School, operating under the authority of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church. Student performance is reported to the Division of Ordained Ministry, the annual conference Board of Ordained Ministry and the student's District Superintendent and District Committee on Ministry.
The United Methodist Church requires part-time local pastors to complete the Course of Study in 12 years. The student should complete two classes per year to be eligible for reappointment. (Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, 2012 ¶318.2 See also ¶ 316-320)
The weekend schedule makes attendance at the Indiana Extension COS School possible for part-time pastors having a non-clergy vocation.

We are making a few changes to our Course of Study School housing options. We can no longer cover all the expenses for a double occupancy room. However, we still will cover some of the costs. We are doing this to make certain the school can continue strong into the future. Here is the new plan effective beginning January 2017. The Conference office will be providing each student a $35 voucher toward hotel accommodation. You will be responsible for making your own reservation. A block of rooms for COS is secured at the Holiday Inn Express at 5151 S East St. (317) 783-5151. They provide us with a discounted rate. The $35 voucher will be paid directly to the Holiday Inn Express. When you make your reservations, let them know you are with the United Methodist School.
