Dr. Teykl holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Sam Houston State University where he graduated summa cum laude.  He earned his Master of Theology at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and his Doctorate of Ministry with honors from Oral Roberts University. 
Terry has been a pastor for 27 years.  He has a burden to produce quality prayer resources that teach people how to pray with purpose and understanding, and how to make prayer exciting.   Out of this burden have come many resources to guide people as they pray.
He is married to Kathleen and they live in Houston, Texas.  Their two sons and two daughters are grown and have blessed the family with several beautiful grandchildren.

Year End Reports (Check Day)
 
The 2009 Year End Report information is now online at the Indiana Conference website, http://inumc.org/enewsletterarchives/detail/591.  The deadline for entering the reports online is February 15.  All churches must submit this information.
 
 
UMM Lenten Breakfast Series Kick-Off
 
Rev. David V. W. Owen will be the speaker at the “Rethink Church” Lenten Breakfast Series Kick-Off, Saturday, February 20 at 7:00 a.m. at the University of Indianapolis, 1400 E Hanna Ave., Schwitzer Student Center.  The cost is $7.00 per person.  Registrations are sent to Robin Brown, INUMC Central District Center, 3901 N. Meridian St., #210, Indianapolis, IN 46208.  Checks made payable to “Metro Ministries”.  The deadline is Friday, February 12.  A registration form is attached to this newsletter.

Volunteer in Mission Team Leader Training
There will be a “Volunteers in Mission Team Leader Training”, March 20 at Bloomington First UMC and April 10 at New Life UMC, Mexico, IN from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Penny Krug will be the trainer.  The training is for leaders and/or participants of work teams, youth leaders.  The cost is $15 (includes lunch and materials) plus $25 for VIM Training Manual (only one per church).  Topics include how to plan a mission trip, where to go when your church wants to send a team, spiritual enrichment, insurance and liability forms, issues of risk, etc.  To register, contact Bonnie Albert at bokay@hotmail.com.
 
 
Haiti Earthquake Relief
Offerings received in congregations for the Haiti Earthquake Relief need to be sent to Indiana Conference, PO Box 2125, Kokomo, IN 46904.  Checks sent to the conference office should have “Haiti Emergency” or “Advance #418325” in the memo line.  One hundred percent of gifts go directly to Haiti Earthquake relief efforts. Administrative cost has been paid through the One Great Hour of Sharing special Sunday offering.

If you are interested in making up the kits, the information follows:
 
Please be sure all items are new.
 
Health Kits – Suggested shipping donation $1 per kit to defray costs. 1 hand towel (not finger-tip or kitchen size), 1 wash cloth, 1 comb (regular size, not pocket size, no rat-tail combs, no barber combs; suggestion – Little Goody 2 Pack), 1 fingernail clipper or file (no emery boards), 1 bar of soap (3 oz. or larger in original wrapper), 1 toothbrush (in original single wrapper, no multiple packs), 1 tube of toothpaste (3.5 oz or larger, in original wrapper. Check expiration dates; it must be at least ONE YEAR ahead.), 6 adhesive bandages (*Band-Aids; no pictures or colors, regular size and wrapped in a rubber band). Wrap the items in the hand towel. Items may be placed in a one-gallon plastic zip-closure bag. All new items please. Please make sure all items are correct sizes. If they are not the correct size they are unusable.
Layette Kits – Suggested shipping donation $1 per kit to defray costs. All new items. Many women do not have clothes with which to welcome a newborn into the world. Layette kits provide them with basic supplies. Include: 6 cloth diapers (3-ply birdseye, new), 2 undershirts or onesies, 2 baby washcloths 2 gowns or sleepers, 2 diaper pins, 1 sweater, and 2 receiving blankets (no quilts or knitted). Bundle the items inside one of the blankets and secure it with diaper pins.
 
Mark Your Calendar - Cluster Leaders’ Training
 
There will be Cluster Leaders’ Training for the North Central District churches on February 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The location will be announced later.
 
 
Bishop’s Confirmation Rally
 
The Bishop’s Confirmation Rally is Saturday, March 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Noblesville First UMC, 2051 E. Monument St., Noblesville, IN 46060.  (Check-in and pictures with the Bishop begin at 9:00 a.m.)  Confirmation students (including those confirmed in the fall of 2009, mentors and youth leaders from across the state are invited to gather for a day of worship, exploration and connection.  The celebration of our faith will include praise and worship, an appearance by “John Wesley” (founder of Methodism), plus questions and answers with Bishop Mike.  The day will close with a communion service.  You may register online at www.inumcyouth.org/connect.  If you have questions, please contact Brian Durand at 317/564-3249.
 
 
2010 Clergy Spouse Retreat
