EVENTS THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK

A Day of Remembrance to be held in Carmel, June 20

On the longest day of 2012, Wednesday, June 20, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Carmel is hosting a Day of Remembrance for individuals to honor the memories of those family members and friends who have entered eternal rest. The church’s sanctuary will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for personal prayer and reflection along with an opportunity to inscribe a ribbon streamer with the name of the person being remembered. St. Mark’s labyrinth courtyard will also be open for a time to pause and reflect. At 7 p.m. a Service of Remembrance will be held in the sanctuary. Bishop’s Ride 2012 for Epworth Forest Right Future Campaign

  • Saturday, Aug. 4 – Rain or shine.
  • Lunch at 1 p.m. with 2 p.m. Worship and Praise with Bishop Coyner and Arize
  • Starting point: Your home church or local chapter
  • Ending point: Epworth Forest Conference Center; 8580 E. Wesley Lane, North Webster, Ind.

Seminar for church administration

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) – A training seminar on church administration and administrative duties will be held July 15-20 at the office of the General Council on Finance and Administration in Nashville. Radical hospitality retreat set

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UMNS) – Scarritt-Bennett Center, a United Methodist Women-owned retreat center, will offer a retreat on “Radical Hospitality,” one of the five fruitful congregational practices identified by Missouri Area Bishop Robert Schnase. The retreat, July 23-26, will be led by the Rev. Judi Hoffman, co-pastor of Edgehill United Methodist Church in Nashville. Costs are $215 for commuters and $444 for those who stay overnight. NCJ Archives and History 2012 CONVO: Wesley at the Crossroads of America

The Indiana Conference Commission Archives and History and The Indiana United Methodist Historical Society have invited the United Methodist Church’s North Central Jurisdictional Commission of the Archives and History to the University of Indianapolis for the Commission’s annual meeting.

  • Begins: Monday, July 9, 1 p.m.
  • Ends: Thursday, July 12, 11 a.m.

Besides ministry reports for the various conferences, CONVO 2012 will feature:

  • Jason Vickers, teaches Wesley studies at United Theological Seminary
  • Greg Clapper, teaches philosophy and religion at UIndy
  • Tours of Indiana Landmarks Center, behind the scenes at Connor Prairie and the UIndy neighborhood
