Day 8 - June 7, 2012
The members of the Indiana Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church unite to receive the fullness of Jesus to move forward with purpose to equip individuals and develop a culture where our access to God’s provision is limitless.
Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV1984)
11 It was he (Jesus) who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Mal. 3:10 NIV (1984)
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.””
Colossians 3:12, 14-17 (NIV1984)
12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Dear God in Heaven, we bow our hearts before your throne to begin the Indiana Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church in humility, honor, love, devotion, praise, and worship. We accept the challenge to make room in our lives for you today. Enlarge our hearts to receive your love to overflowing. Broaden our minds to accept your divinely inspired wisdom to lead, and open doors of opportunities to implement our callings. This conference is dedicated to knowing your heart and mind as we receive your anointing of wisdom, favor, love, and blessings to equip us to a new level of leadership and workmanship. We pray for the business meetings to be conducted with integrity and unity of purpose. We seek the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide the activities and decisions on the agenda. Teach us to transform old mindsets and bring new ones where there are only possibilities to be discovered so we can move forward with purpose to proclaim the message of hope in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. We request wisdom to utilize our financial offerings to implement projects, services, training, and outreaches to bring people hope as they make room for you. Thank you, Jesus, for inspiring a godly manner in which the Indiana Annual Conference will be conducted. You are in control and the members are listening to you. We praise you with great anticipation for the future of The United Methodist Church across Indiana. We pray this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.
