Day 7 - June 6, 2012
The “Fruit of the Spirit” will be displayed throughout the Indiana Annual Conference.
Isaiah 11:2 (NIV1984)
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV1984)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
I Corinthians 12:8-10 (NIV1984)
8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
We must continually “breathe in” God’s grace by meditating on God’s word, praying, and being thankful for the Lord’s mercy as we enjoy the fellowship of other believers. As we are filled with God’s grace, we can then “breathe it out” to others by confessing our wrongs, bringing hope through the gospel, and showing in our words and actions the fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Gracious God, we thank you for our many blessings. Guide us, dear Lord, as we interact with all those who will visit the Indiana Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Embrace us as we truly become “Christian Soldiers” going forth to share love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control with all we encounter. Faith without “works” or “fruit” is dead. Prune us so we become a more fruitful congregation.
Anoint our gifts and talents to a deeper level of service so more people will encounter the example of Jesus Christ on earth through us. Enhance and magnify our gifts from the Holy Spirit as we make more room for you in our minds, heart, and soul. Thank you, Holy Spirit for your gifts, talents, and fruits that are given to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whose name we pray, Amen.
