Day 3 - June 2, 2012

The Theme of “Making Room” will be desired and implemented.

Acts 2:46-47 (Common English Bible)

Every day, they met together in the temple and ate in their homes. They shared food with gladness and simplicity. They praised God and demonstrated God’s goodness to everyone. The Lord added daily to the community those who were being saved.

The purpose of the Annual Conference Session is to equip, inspire and transform participants enabling vitality and renewal across the state in making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The hope and expectation is that everyone will return home with something from the session for their local ministry.

Dear God, we pray for the 3,000 clergy and lay conference members and guests, representing the 1,200 United Methodist congregations, who are coming together for passionate worship, dynamic learning opportunities, ordination of clergy, remembrance of deceased members, celebration of the ministry of retiring pastors, and outreach service to the community. We pray for the anointing of godly leadership to be upon Bishop Michael Coyner and the Leadership Teams. May the anointing of the Holy Spirit provide a connecting line of communication to the throne of God and back to the Annual Conference attendees. Oh God, we want your message for The United Methodist Church. We pray for the boldness of the Holy Spirit to speak through the people to proclaim your heart’s desire for our denomination. We pray for unity of purpose – to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ wherever we go.

Come Holy Spirit and teach us creative activities on how we can make room in our hearts, minds, and souls for you to teach, guide, direct, and implement your will through us. Remove people or change the minds of individuals who may lead us into temptation and keep us from our purpose as followers of Jesus Christ. Show us how to communicate with people who are different from us so they can learn about Jesus and become Christians.

Please touch the hearts, minds, and souls of people as they are experiencing the many activities of the Indiana Annual Conference. Stretch our minds as you open doors of opportunities in order to wrap our thoughts around our calling from God. We will proclaim godly experiences of encounters with Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and angels. Divine appointments and miracles will be broadcast nationwide. We pray that all who encounter our Indiana Annual Conference will feel welcome, love, and make room for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Thank you Glorious God, we know your love makes room for us and endures forever. Amen.
