Day 1 - May 31, 2012
The Glory of God reigns over the Indiana Annual Conference Session of The United Methodist Church and through the members.
Exodus 40:34 (NIV1984)
Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NRSV)
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.
Isaiah 60:1, 2 (CEB)
Arise! Shine! Your light has come; the LORD’s glory has shone upon you. 2 Though darkness covers the earth and gloom the nations, the LORD will shine upon you; God’s glory will appear over you.
Dear God, We come into your presence, into your Glory, to honor and worship you. We desire that you bring your Glory to earth, specifically, to the Indiana Annual Conference Session of The United Methodist Church, over the next ten days. We seek your presence before, during, and after the Annual Conference. Wherever your Glory reigns, darkness must flee quickly in all directions from the conference and our state. Please shower us with your Glory so people will see Jesus Christ through us. We desire that you work through us to give you the honor and praise you deserve. In this Glory, wisdom, clarity, creative ideas, favor, love, and blessings will flourish.
We pray that the ways of the world will not move their way into The United Methodist Church, but that we will be able to show love to all people, and reconcile them to the forgiving, restoring love of Jesus.
May whoever comes through Indiana say, “I felt the Glory of God and I want it for me. I want to make room for Jesus in my life.” We give you praise and celebrate your Glory over Indiana. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
