Shelbyville United Methodist Church seeks Director of Youth Ministry

Want to impact the lives of middle and high school students for Christ? Do you have vision and relationship skills to lead a strong youth ministry program? Can you create relevant Biblical teaching and worship experiences that will engage teens? Centenary United Methodist Church, a mid-sized congregation in Shelbyville, KY just 30 minutes from Louisville, is looking for an outgoing, energetic person to work with community and existing church youth, introduce them to Jesus and help them grow in faith. Typically a 40-hour a week position, the director is responsible for year round traditional youth programming, targeted relationship-building with students, outreach events and annual mission opportunities (local/state, national and international). In addition, the director will provide vision, coordination and support for both a youth leadership team and adult volunteer team; recruit and oversee youth Sunday school ministry. During summer months, the director will engage with college students and coordinate opportunities for their involvement in the church.
A successful candidate must be a person of Christian character and maturity, living a lifestyle that reflects a commitment to Christ and the Church. The ability to develop relationships and work effectively with teams, excellent organization and communication skills, and a passion for working with students are required skills/characteristics for this role.
