Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries Job Description
Position: A part time ministry position, focusing on ministry to youth 6th-12th Grade and young adults (ages 18-30), working with lay leadership in developing ministry strategies and plans, and playing a key role in implementing those plans through direct ministry to these groups. This position will report directly to the Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor of Meridian Street United Methodist Church.
Primary focus of the Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry

  1. Develop the youth and young adult ministry programs at Meridian Street.
  2. Build nurturing relationships with the youth and young adults.  
  3. Introduce young people to living faith in Jesus Christ, equip them to serve the church, and to minister to/assist parents/guardians in raising their teenagers to a mature and lively faith.
  4. Be visible and available in the church and community through worship, representing Christ and the church, demonstrating care and graceful witness.
  5. Encourage and equip the whole church body to spiritual and relational participation in the youth and young adult ministries.
  6. Set the vision and goals for the youth (6th-12th Grade) and young adult ministries (ages 18-30).
Youth Ministry
  • Offer leadership in creating and maintaining a transformative youth ministry program of spiritual formation and servanthood
  • Overseeing all aspects of youth ministry, including but not limited to Sunday school, an additional weekly gathering for youth, confirmation, retreats, special events, and mission projects and mission trips.
  • Build and maintain relationships with youth and families that are both in our church community and outside our church community. Such touch point examples include:
    • Vacation Bible School
    • Individual and group interactions with the 3rd, 4th & 5th-grade children and families
    • Engagement of CDI parents
    • Fall and Summer Meridian Street Sports Programs
  • Recruiting, training and supervising lay adult leadership in youth ministries
    • Facilitate the Youth Ministry Team
 Young Adult Ministries:
  • Developing, resourcing and supervising new ministries with and for young adults.
  • Plan and facilitate the fellowship and sessions for the Butler United Methodist Student Movement
