Annual Conference Speakers

Dr. Joseph W. Daniels, Jr. is a husband, father, pastor, author, prophetic imaginer andleader of a Relevant, Enthusiastic, Authentic  and Loving church movement.  Joe has  dedicated his life to growing the kingdom of God. For the past three years, he did so in   two roles: as the District Superintendent of  the Greater Washington District of the Baltimore-Washington Conference (July 2013  to June 2016) and as Lead Pastor at Emory United Methodist Church (since July 1992). 

Joe has been called upon for mission service to churches in Zimbabwe and South Africa, providing training for pastors and laity in the area of congregational and community  development. Instructing groups on how to establish strong neighborhoods, Joe’s  commitment to a spirit of “peace on earth” is not confined to the Brightwood (D.C.)  community, the city of Washington D.C. or the United States of America. He fully believes that there can be healthy, wholesome, economically stable families and communities all  over the world.

Bishop LaTrelle Easterling is the first woman bishop to lead the 233-year-old Baltimore-Washington Conference. She was elected as a bishop in The United Methodist Church in July 2016, and began serving this conference in September.

An Indiana native, Easterling worked in the human resources field and as an attorney before being ordained a Deacon in 1995 and an Elder in 1997. She served at Union UMC in Boston’s historic South End, Pearl Street UMC in Brockton, Mass., and Old West Church, UM, in Boston. From 2012 to 2016, she oversaw 57 congregations as superintendent of the Metro Boston Hope District in the New England Conference. In 2016, she was named Dean of the Cabinet in the New England Conference.

She received a Bachelor degree from Indiana University and a Law degree from Indiana University School of Law. She graduated summa cum laude in 2004 with a Master of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology.

Kimberly Reisman is Executive Director of World Methodist Evangelism, a ministry that brings the global Methodist/Wesleyan family of Christians together around the work of multiplying witnesses for Jesus Christ. An author, pastor, teacher and theologian, Kim is a frequent speaker, focusing on evangelism, spiritual formation, women’s ministries, leadership development and the intersection between faith and culture. She is an elder in the United Methodist Church and has written numerous books, most recently, The Christ-Centered Woman: Finding Balance in a World of Extremes (2013, Abingdon Press).

Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, Kim lived in California, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio and Connecticut before moving to Indiana in 1993.  She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Emory University, a Masters of Divinity from Yale Divinity School, and a PhD in theology from Durham University in the United Kingdom.
