Christ UMC Fish Fry

Christ UMC (8540 US 31 S, Indianapolis, IN 46227) will be hosting their fish fry on September 22 and 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. They will also be doing local delivery and have a drive-thru. Laity Day with the Bishop at Indianapolis Christ UMC

Asian Help Services Hosts Annual Asian Festival

Asian Help Services will host the Annual Asian Festival on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Broadway United Methodist Church, 609 E. 29th Street, Indianapolis 46205.

The Asian Festival will feature traditional Asian music by Indiana University Musicians and a buffet lunch featuring Asian foods will be served. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $25.00 per person. Proceeds from the Asian Festival fund the numerous activities of Asian Help Services. The not-for-profit organization assists persons of Asian descent in central Indiana by providing a bridge between cultures. Counseling, job placement services, English as a second language instruction, translation services, and educational workshops are among the activities in which Asian Help Services engages.

Conflict Transformation Skills Interdenominational Workshop

You are invited to attend the one-day workshop Conflict Transformation Skills for Churches on October 21, 2017 in Indianapolis, IN. This workshop will focus on the Biblical basis for conflict transformation, styles of responding to conflict, communication skills necessary to resolve conflict peacefully, strategies to prevent destructive conflict in churches, and a model for working at congregational decision-making in a win-win manner. Group discounts are available until October 6, 2017. St. Vincent Hospice Chaplain Needed

St. Vincent Hospice has an immediate opportunity for a PRN Chaplain. We're seeking experienced candidates with a minimum of 1 year Hospice experience or related experience, Master's Degree, CPE / Clinical Pastoral Education experience. 

MINISTRY SUMMARY:
This position ministers to all patients, families and staff, regardless of their personal faith tradition, by providing appropriate spiritual services, i.e., listening, pastoral counseling, ethical consultation and prayer. The chaplain participates in educational programs and acts as a resource for physicians, staff, volunteers and the larger faith community. The Chaplain participates in organizational committees related to the Chaplains area of AHAH. Through personal presence, pastoral ministry and in-service education, the chaplain helps to promote and maintain a Christian atmosphere of quality patient-centered care.

Travel around the Indianapolis area is required, we also have a 10 bed inpatient unit on Payne Road that will be part of the ministry area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES 
Provide effective spiritual care as part of an interdisciplinary team that contributes to the well-being of staff, patients/clients, and their families. 
Document a spiritual assessment, intervention and plan of care. 
Provide leadership and education that shapes and supports the culture of spirituality, mission and values of Ministry Home Care. 
Advocate for patients and families within their organization. 
Create and facilitate rituals for individuals/groups and organizational needs. 
Participate in general, patient caregiver and physician orientation. 
Collaborate with area clergy to honor the requests of patients and families. 

Education/Licensing/Certification:
Master's Degree in theological, ministerial or related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education is required.

Endorsement by Professional Chaplain Organization and/or Denominational Representative.

Current Indiana driver's license, use of a car and proof of auto insurance.

Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years of chaplaincy or related experience.

The Director of Worship Technologies prepares and implements all audio and visual components for Sunday morning services and all other church events. This preparation and implementation helps create an inviting worship experience which allows others to share in our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Terms of Employment: The Director of Worship Technologies is a part-time staff position. Reports to: Operations Manager Supervises: Volunteers who serve with the audio/visual ministry in worship and children’s worship

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Model agape love.

2. Design and implement a plan and recruit a team to provide audio-visual for worship services and other gatherings.

3. Oversee the setup of the audio-visual equipment for worship services on Sunday and oversee the tear-down of the audio-visual equipment after Sunday worship services.

4. Works with the worship planning team and prepares projection slides for Sunday services.

The Director of Contemporary Worship will be the “producer” of contemporary worship service and special programs. Although the senior pastor is the “director” in terms of setting the theme and overall direction, the Director of Worship will oversee and coordinate all the details that a service encompasses. The Director of Worship must be a visionary who is creative in leading people to God. The Director of Worship is a leader who can communicate a direction in a way that inspires those around him/her to join in the pursuit of that vision. This position is a pastoral one that therefore requires the individual to serve not solely as a musical or performing arts director but also as a shepherd to the people who serve in this ministry.

-Must pass a criminal history check, drug test, and have a valid Indiana Driver’s License.

-Understands the importance of the preschool and the local church partnering together in ministry

-Understanding of and observance of State Board of Health rules and those of the Family and Social Services Administration

-Be a team player who establishes positive, respectful and professional relationships with children, parents, colleagues, church members, church staff, and the childcare community
