Chapel Hill UMC

Outdoor Concert Series & Community Fair

These free concerts will feature different music each week, June 25 and July 2, from a variety of musicians. The concerts will go on rain or shine (will move to sanctuary if it rains), but the fair will be weather-permitting. The fair will have food trucks, vendors, a bounce house and other fun! Irvington UMC

Annual Strawberry Festival

Irvington UMC, 30 N Audubon Road. on the east side of Indy, is hosting its annual strawberry festival on June 25 from 1:30-4:00. Tickets are $5.00 each. This will be followed by a free patriotic concert in the sanctuary at 4:30. There will be a vendors' sale on the west side of the church. Parking is available on the west side of the church by the playground. 

UMCOR Early Response Team Training

Early Response Training (ERT) Yorktown, July 15

Early Response Teams (ERTs) fill a specific need in the early days after a disaster to clean out flood-damaged homes, remove debris, place tarps on homes, and otherwise help to prevent further damage, while providing a caring Christian presence.  ERT's are not a first-response group of emergency workers, nor are they recovery, rebuild, or repair teams.  Under very specific guidelines, ERTs assist survivors, without causing further harm or being a burden to the affected community.

If you are able to give 3 to 7 days of your time to serve as a caring Christian presence following a disaster or know of someone who is please prayerfully consider attending this training or share this opportunity with others. Indianapolis Wesley UMC

Wesley UM Church, located at 3425 W 30th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222, is looking for an experienced, caring and compassionate childcare worker to serve as our Childcare Coordinator for toddlers and children under 5 years old (NO infants) during worship on Sunday mornings between 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Some children are learning English as their second language and the number of children in attendance range between 8 to 18. The number of children vary from Sunday to Sunday. The ideal candidate will use Christian resources and age-appropriate learning activities. The job responsibilities include scheduling volunteers as required by the two-person rule of the safe-sanctuary guidelines; maintaining sign-in records and children profiles. Southport UMC

Southport United Methodist Church is looking to fill a full-time position of Student Ministry Director.  This position will be responsible for all student-related activities associated with students inside the church as well as making connections and building relationships with students that as of yet do not have a relationship with Jesus.  The primary mission of this position is to “make disciples of Jesus.”  This includes:

  • Sunday morning for Middle School and High School Students
  • Sunday morning for children 3rd – 6th grade
  • Weekly youth group for Middle School and High School Students
  • Partnering with Youth for Christ to make connections with students that don’t have a relationship with Jesus
  • Other activities held throughout the year for the purposes of helping the students in “going on” toward Christlikeness as they further their discipleship.

Qualified candidates will have a proven track record in the following:

  • Creating strong, trusting and respectful relationships with students as their faith leader (including those that are already following Jesus as well as those that presently are not following Jesus)
  • Creating strong relationships with parents in order to partner with them in developing strong faith on the part of the students
  • Developing other adult leaders to assist in Student Ministry with a unified mission for Student Ministry of “making disciples of Jesus Christ”
  • Working together with other areas of the church to accomplish the church’s mission and vision, breaking down “silos” within the various areas of the church as appropriate
  • Developing and following through on age-appropriate teaching plans that emphasize discipleship
  • Planning an entire Student Ministry year that has various activities that seamlessly work together for the singular mission of “making disciples of Jesus”

The Director of Worship Technologies prepares and implements all audio and visual components for Sunday morning services and all other church events. This preparation and implementation helps create an inviting worship experience which allows others to share in our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Terms of Employment: The Director of Worship Technologies is a part-time staff position. Reports to: Operations Manager Supervises: Volunteers who serve with the audio/visual ministry in worship and children’s worship

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Model agape love.

2. Design and implement a plan and recruit a team to provide audio-visual for worship services and other gatherings.

3. Oversee the setup of the audio-visual equipment for worship services on Sunday and oversee the tear-down of the audio-visual equipment after Sunday worship services.

4. Works with the worship planning team and prepares projection slides for Sunday services.

The Director of Worship will be the “producer” of contemporary worship service and special programs. Although the senior pastor is the “director” in terms of setting the theme and overall direction, the Director of Worship will oversee and coordinate all the details that a service encompasses. The Director of Worship must be a visionary who is creative in leading people to God. The Director of Worship is a leader who can communicate a direction in a way that inspires those around him/her to join in the pursuit of that vision. This position is a pastoral one that therefore requires the individual to serve not solely as a musical or performing arts director but also as a shepherd to the people who serve in this ministry.

-Bilingual, preferable

-Ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of socio-economical, racial, ethnic, religious and political backgrounds, beliefs, and practices.

-Willingness to attend staff meetings, board meetings, and Administrative Council meetings        

-Must pass a criminal history check, drug test, and have a valid Indiana Driver’s License.

-Understands the importance of the preschool and the local church partnering together in ministry

-Understanding of and observance of State Board of Health rules and those of the Family and Social Services Administration

-Be a team player who establishes positive, respectful and professional relationships with children, parents, colleagues, church members, church staff, and the childcare community

-Communicates in a clear, friendly, professional, proactive, and Christian manner

-Able to guide/drive change

-Core understanding of the Christian faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
